Associate – Payment Posting

The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for the daily processing of remittances. This includes posting both electronic and paper remittances, which consist of payments, adjustments, credits, and denials from various payers into multiple practice management systems. Additionally, the specialist is tasked with reconciling bank deposits with the practice management system, maintaining effective and efficient record retention of all financial documents, and ensuring the timely processing of payments for the closing process.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately post payments to patient accounts in the healthcare system.
  • Verify payment information, including payer, amount, and date of service.
  • Identify and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Apply payments to appropriate charges and adjust accounts accordingly.
  • Review and analyze denied claims.
  • Identify reasons for denials and take appropriate action, such as appealing denials or resubmitting claims.
  • Work with insurance companies to resolve payment issues.
  • Reconcile patient accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify and correct errors in patient accounts.
  • Resolve discrepancies between patient statements and system records.
  • Accurately input payment information into the healthcare system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other compliance standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information

Skills/Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, preferably in payment posting.
  • Strong understanding of medical billing and coding.
  • Knowledge of insurance claim processing and denial management.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare software systems (e.g., Tebra, Ecw).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
