Trainer – Medical Coding
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Medical Coding Trainer to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new hires and existing team members. The ideal candidate will deeply understand medical coding principles, methodologies, and industry best practices. The trainer will be responsible for creating engaging training materials, conducting effective training sessions, and ensuring trainees achieve and maintain a high level of proficiency. Additionally, the trainer will contribute to the broader medical coding community by delivering lectures at colleges and training institutes.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new medical coding hires, covering ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct practical coding exercises, assessments, and provide constructive feedback to ensure trainees grasp coding concepts.
- Monitor trainee progress and provide individualized support as needed.
- Conduct ongoing training sessions to keep the existing medical coding team updated on coding changes, regulatory updates, and best practices.
- Identify knowledge gaps and develop targeted training programs to address specific needs.
- Conduct refresher courses and provide continuous education to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.
- Create and update training materials, including presentations, manuals, handouts, and online resources.
- Develop and maintain coding scenarios and case studies for practical training.
- Ensure training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards.
- Deliver engaging and informative lectures on medical coding topics at colleges and training institutes.
- Track and evaluate trainee performance through assessments and feedback.
- Prepare reports on training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and attendance.
- Ensure all training activities adhere to HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain a high level of coding accuracy and quality in all training materials and sessions.
- Stay up to date on all coding guideline changes.
Skills/Experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or other relevant medical coding certification required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in medical coding and training.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs.
- Proficient in using medical coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience giving lectures.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in developing online training modules.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Experience with auditing.
